This product is such a great example of why I am obsessed with and enjoy design so much. These spice jars by @kokili_projects are so clever, charismatic, lovable and also impressively sustainable. Material for the containers are culled from leftover, solid wood offcuts, with species grouped to reflect particular regions of the world. Tops are made of a lead free cast glass. A cork stopper provides a seal to the container. Trays for the herb containers are available in polished nickel coated brass or solid wood.🙌 🏷#Repost @theanotherunicorn ・・・ Make sure your life is full of spices. These fantastic jars called Tree Story. Inspiration from: Design studio Kokili, created by duo So Jung Lee and Gregory Walker are driven by creating beautiful objects and experiences, celebrating the optimism of life. • • #spices #life #treestory #kokili #inspiration #beautyofsimplicity #natural #brand #theanotherunicorn #anotherunicorn #newnormal
Today was such a great day! Got to meet the amazing @michellemillarfisher a fellow design curator and Scot and one of the most enthusiastic, supportive and encouraging people around. So excited to meet her and looking forward very much indeed to her forthcoming book Women in Design and her forthcoming design futures exhibitions at @philamuseum #Repost @michellemillarfisher ・・・ Just spent a great afternoon visiting the studio of designer-Dr-Wonderwoman @stacey_hunter_edi who is a powerhouse of contemporary design knowledge and advocacy in Scotland. Her @localheroesdesign umbrella has hosted and conceptualized so many great projects and there are so many in the pipeline. Can’t wait to bring Philly design lovers her way when we visit in the fall. In the meantime, she is asking a question, persistently: what is Scottish Design, and where/how can it receive ever increasing support both within and outside our fair country. We also spoke about how everyone loves design, is touched by it in their daily lives, and the barrier and opportunities there are for exhibiting and championing it. We need ever-more design-minded folks to band together and collaborate from the grassroots up #scottishdesign #contemporarydesign #ThisIsDesign

This looks amazing! By @schlosshollenegg for #MilanMobile 17 - 22 April 2018 / 10am - 7pm MILANO 20123, via Cesare Correnti 14 ARCADIA by Sara Ricciardi @sara___ricciardi “During the Salone, to anticipate the Legacy exhibition, Sara Ricciardi will reveal something of the magic and beauty of Schloss Hollenegg. The Italian designer has captured details of the castle, intertwining them with its rich history to create a playful and interactive show. Arcadia, the mythical land where man finds tranquillity and peace, outside the realm of civilisation, will explore the importance of heritage, in personal and collective terms, looking both at the past and at the future.” Produced by 5VIE art+design / With the craftsmanship of Tappezerie Druetta and Lunosa
I am looking for designers or artists who might have a small ‘totem’ or ‘amulet’ they have produced that they could loan me for a show I’m producing very soon (early May). The idea is that it fits in the hand and its owner might carry it when travelling to remind them of home or a special person or to protect them from harm. It might be something you have made as a sample rather than a finished piece for example? If this sounds like you and you may be able to loan a piece in metal, glass, stone paper or any other material could you please DM me? Pictured is a brooch called ‘ever lasting film star’ by D Bros

I’ve written an article about contemporary ceramics in Scotland and it’s out now in @theskinnymag ! 🐣🗿🌷⠀ ⠀ It’s in the regular @localheroesdesign column on page 63. Scotland has a highly diversified ceramics scene. This is the first of two forays this year into pottery and ceramics as there is too much amazing work to squeeze into a column. ⠀ This month I spoke to and visited the studio of the lovely Natalie J Wood @nataliejwooddesigns in Edinburgh - whose work is pictured here and I bought this Detsu pourer for my friends @skint_richie and @ionamccann 💗 as a wedding gift 🎩 👰congrats guys! I also feature wonderful work from Dundee based Steph Liddle @steph.liddle ; Skye's Patricia Shone @patriciashoneceramics ; and Edinburgh's Fiona Byrne Sutton @fionabyrnesutton ⠀ ⠀ Thanks as always to the ace team at @theskinnymag especially Editor in Chief @rosamung and Picture Editor @sarahdonley who do so much behind the scenes to help me bring the best of Scottish design to the public at large 🙌
