New Yorker Emily Mullin is showing an original and exciting new ceramic collection ‘To Balance You’ 5-7 Oct at @mountfloridagalleryandstudios Glasgow. 🏺🏺🏺 The show, curated by @michellemillarfisher is a perfectly timed autumnal feeling collection of @emulli glazed ceramic vessels presented on hand painted, wall mounted, sheet metal shelves. I love the way @emulli has considered the presentation of her ceramics - It’s a such thoughtful and brilliant way to preserve the heightened experience of seeing a vessel in a gallery by creating a plinth to go with it. All works are for sale and I don’t want to spoil the joy of walking into this little gallery and seeing these as a collection so I’m restraining myself by only posting one photo! It’s not on for long so go and see it while you can! 🌾🍂🎍 Last night was the first time I’ve visited @mountfloridagalleryandstudios home to Catherine Johnston’s @object_company and @rachelemillar - it’s a total dream with a little patio out the back and the best vibes! Thank you for the beautiful food and hospitality 🌝🌝🌝 #ceramics #contemporarydesign #contemporarycraft #emilymullin #michellemillarfisher #mountfloridagallery #glasgowdesign #designcurator
So much love in room for my best pal @rabiyachoudhry at her artist talk at @transmissionglasgow Nothing quite like viewing her artwork through the frame of my mum and dad who are big fans of Rabiya’s work (and of Rab! ❤️) What a great event and crowd. For those who don’t know, Choudhry is a Scottish artist whose paintings share influences from art history, music and pop culture to explore ideas of love, loss and cultural identity. Her work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2006. “I am inspired by my family and social injustice, the horrors of war and of everyday living. Visually, I take inspiration from Surrealist/Futurist/Cubist art, comic-book artists such as Robert Crumb, horror films and particularly b-movie aesthetics, hand-painted Ghanaian poster art and Bollywood film posters. I’m also interested in street artists who take their cause onto the streets and use their work as a platform for public engagement.” Her amazing solo exhibition COCO!NUTS! opens at Transmission Gallery in Glasgow, Scotland on 14th September 2018. COCO!NUTS! runs until 20th October. COCO!NUTS! 🥥 🙌❤️
Ensemble by Edmond Byrne @edmondbyrneglass is now open at @scottishgallery in Edinburgh. I am so in love with these colour combinations #auroraborealis 🌌 “Byrne’s vessels use the materiality of glass to examine the science and psychology of colour. With Ensemble, Byrne moves in a new direction exploring the totem as a creative device for assembling ‘off cuts’ - glass parts that would normally be discarded during the making process in the workshop, that are instead collected and reassembled into exquisite objects.”
